This Excel workbook will assist you in determining detailed quantities of concrete, rebar, formwork, wire mesh, vapor retarder, curing compound, expansion joint, and all labor to install this material for cast in place foundations and slabs on grade.
To start:
Click on a foundation tab at the bottom. Foundations must always have a type id entered. 1 = cont. strip footing, 2 = column pad footing, 3 = pile cap, 4 = grade beam. Just fill in the dimensions, type of concrete & reinforcement for each line. The Rebar Material is for additional rebar not calculated below. (This can be left blank almost always.) Thickness of wall is only used in determining amount of backfill. (This is usually .67 or 1). Rebar laps are calculated along with rebar and concrete waste. You will be able to have 25 lines of takeoff for each building. Customizing can be done on the “Materials” tab.
**Please remember only to enter data in the yellow boxes. Never change the contents of a green or light green box. This will change formulas and your results.**
Click on a slab tab at the bottom. Entering slab dimensions and reinforcement is the same as the foundations. Just fill in the dimensions, type of concrete & reinforcement for each line. There are other options to add different materials. Some you have to enter a dimension. Some you just enter a (1) to select it for the entire area. You will be able to have 25 lines of takeoff for each building. Customizing can be done on the “Materials” tab.
**Always check your line of takeoff. Make sure you enter a quantity and a concrete mix id for each line or you won’t get correct results.**
To get your final result,
Click on the job info tab at the bottom. You can enter in different labor burden rates and profit margins to match your company. Always check your work on the summary pages for each building.
